Juice and One Meal, Starting Today
O.K., so I was supposed to already have started this, but I didn’t. I needed to get to the supermarket, and since I don’t have a car, and I’m pretty much dependent on my neighbor to get me there, I had to wait.
I went yesterday and bought juice, fruits and veggies. I have a 5 lb. bag of carrots, celery and some beets, so I’ll be juicing those and mixing with the fruit juices to drink during the day. For dinner, I’ll have a nice salad with balsamic vinaigrette dressing.
I know bottled juice isn’t that good, but I couldn’t afford enough fruits to juice properly, nor could I afford organic juices. I bought Juicy Juice, which is, I hear, the best of the processed juices. Anyway, that’s what I have, and that’s what I’m using.
Hopefully, this will keep me healthier than the other fast, while still helping me lose weight. I need to get my vitamins daily, especially potassium, so I don’t have symptoms, and the lemonade dieting just wasn’t giving them to me.
I’ll be doing a lot of walking today, because I have to go pay a bill, and the bus stop is a mile away. I’ll get at least two miles in, maybe more, depending on where the bus stops.
More tomorrow on this ongoing struggle to lose weight after fifty.

It sounds to me like you are being fairly harsh with yourself. Each person loses in their own way and only by experimenting can you find what works best for you, but please take care ! My family suffers from morbid obesity, so for me, watching my food has been a lifelong hobby. I’m not skinny, but I’ve only once hit 190. I have certain truths I live by.
! ) reward yourself for good behavior once a week, even if its a candybar…a SMALL one..lol . I throw one in the freezer so I can’t eat it fast.
2 ) if you don’t have snacks in your house, you can’t binge on them.
3 ) if you eat too little, you won’t lose as much weight as you think you will, simply because your body thinks its starving and will go into survival mode and slow your metabolism.
4 ) if you lose weight too fast, your chances of regaining are similar to a dry sponge dropped in water. Been there; done that !
5 ) plan your meals and eat right before you go shopping.
6 ) increase your activities to take your mind off food. Exercise is great; hobbies work as well.
good luck, and I’ll be watching for you. Maybe I’ll even start a diet again to keep you company * grins*
Thanks for the great tips. I did reward myself with a candy bar the other day, just Reese’s peanut butter cups, the small pack (2). I ate it while walking back from the store, so I probably walked it mostly off.
I know that I don’t eat enough, and I don’t drink enough especially. I’ve got to force myself to drink more. I just don’t get thirsty. I don’t know why.
The juice fast is more to try to finish up with cleansing than for losing weight, actually. I have lupus, and I need to be as “non-toxic” as I can.
I’m actually a raw food freak. I love raw fruits and veggies, and if I could, that’s all I would eat. Unfortunately, I have to have a protein source, and eating nuts all the time just doesn’t appeal to me.
I just keep remmbering Richard Simmons saying “The first word in diet is “die”. LOL
LOL…yes, Richard was a lifesaver to me as well. I bought shoes he designed when I was nearly crippled with foot pain. The shoes had just the right amount of cushioning for me, and my feet heeled. I had stress fractured heels.
I love raw veggies, too. Go french..” crudites ” ( croo-dee-tez ) and make them sound exotic. * grins* I’m supposed to be cutting out salt. Ever taste salt free peanut butter on salt free bread??..wallpaper paste on cardboard comes to mind. Trying to eat packaged food while watching the details is mind-boggling, so for me, fresh is my only choice.
